PROJECT BRIEF

This project is addressing solution for lack of backstage facilities and theatre production centre in Derby that lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of Derbyshire of United Kingdom. Derby has a significant catchment for entertainment industry. It is well-known for producing a high quality performing arts in East Midlands. Currently the only operative production centre in Derby is Derby Theatre (previously known as Derby Playhouse) that offered limited facilities for workshop and occupied limited resources. In addition, the scheme proposes a new vibrant entrance for Market Hall, a creative collaborative spaces for local artists and a wide green landscape for the city.

Site Analysis

For this project, among the site considerations are i) Intervention with the existing historical buildings on the site. ii) Intervention and interaction with Market Hall and Guildhall Theatre.
